Setup guide

Everything you need to get A-6 running on your DayZ server: buying, downloading, installing, and registering your server for the licence. It takes about 10 minutes.

How licensing works

  • Your licence belongs to your Community (your server group). It is linked to your Discord account.
  • A6 Weapons, Gunplay and Optics are licensed: they only unlock on the servers you have registered.
  • A server is identified by its IP address + game port. There is no licence file to edit on your server.
  • The server checks its licence when it starts and every 24 hours. If our site is briefly unreachable, your server keeps working on its saved licence (up to 3 days).
  • Without a valid licence, the server still starts normally: only the A-6 mods are locked, and players get a message before being disconnected.
Base Storage, DoorLock and Secure Containers don't need a licence: download, install, play.

1Buy & download

  1. Open the Store and click Login with Discord. Use the Discord account you want the licence on.
  2. Add your mods to the cart and pay with PayPal.
  3. Right after the payment:
    • your buyer roles are given on our Discord (you're added to the server if needed),
    • your licence is created,
    • your files appear in My downloads.
  4. In My downloads, take the PBOs of each mod and A-6 Core (required with any licensed mod). The source is there too if you want it.
Big files can be resumed if the download stops. Weapons is the largest one: use a stable connection.

2Install the mods

On the server

FolderWhere
@A6_Core (A6_Client + Systems)-mod
@A6_Core_Server (A6_Server)-serverMod only
A-6 Weapons / Gunplay / Optics-mod
  1. Upload the folders next to your other mods.
  2. Copy the .bikey file from each mod's keys folder into your server's keys folder.
  3. Add them to your launch parameters, for example:
    -mod=@CF;@A6_Core;@A6_Gunplay;@A6_Weapons;@A6_Optics
    -serverMod=@A6_Core_Server
On a hosting panel (GTX, Nitrado, CFTools…), add them in the mods / server mods fields instead.
Never put A6_Server in -mod or give it to your players: it's server-side only.

For your players

Players need the same client mods as the server (everything in -mod), as usual.

3Register your server

Register your server before starting it with A-6 for the first time. An unregistered server is refused at every check and keeps retrying: the first start can then take a very long time. If you use the claim code (option B), add the server right after the first start, then restart.

Open the Licences page and log in with Discord.

  1. Set your Community name (first time only). It can't be changed afterwards without contacting us.
  2. Add your server, with one of these two ways:

Option A: IP + port

  • Server name: any name to recognize it.
  • IP: your server's public IP.
  • Game port: the -port of your server (default 2302).
  • Query port: steamQueryPort in serverDZ.cfg (default 27016).

Option B: claim code (recommended)

  1. Start your server once with the mods installed.
  2. Open profiles/A6_Mods/Logs/A6_License.log. You'll see:
Claim code for this server: ABCD-EF23 (paste it in your customer area, then restart)
  3. Paste the code in the portal (Add with the claim code), give the server a name.
The claim code registers the exact IP + port your server uses, even if your host uses a different outgoing IP. If option A doesn't work, use option B.

Then restart the server: A-6 unlocks at startup.

Your server's public name must contain your Community name (it's checked automatically). Test servers: put test in the name (and in the public name too), with 10 players max.

4Check it works

After the restart, open profiles/A6_Mods/Logs/A6_License.log:

Licence: checking (game port 2302)...
Licence valid. Unlocked: a6_gunplay,a6_weapons,a6_optics (License valid (YourCommunity))

That's it, you're done. 🎉 The same lines are in your script_*.log, starting with [A-6 LICENCE].

FAQ & problems

My server takes a very long time to start

It was started before being added on the Licences page: every check is refused and the server keeps retrying. Add the server (step 3), then restart. Once the licence is accepted, licensecache.json is created and the next starts are normal.

"Not registered" but I added my server

The IP or the game port doesn't match what the server really uses (common with hosts that use another outgoing IP). Remove it and add it again with the claim code from the log.

My server has the right name, but the site reads another name (GTX, Vykix…)

On some hosts several servers share an IP: your server reaches our site from one IP, but players connect to it on another one. The site then reads the name of another server. Fix it in 1 minute:

  1. Open the Licences page and log in with Discord.
  2. Under the IP of your server, click Name check.
  3. Public IP: the IP your players use to connect (shown in your host panel, e.g. "Server info", or in the DayZ server browser).
  4. Query port: steamQueryPort of this server. Then click Save.

Your real name is read right away and the warning disappears. Your licence is not affected: it keeps the IP your server uses to reach us.

I changed host / IP / port

Remove the old server in the portal and add the new one (claim code is easiest). Restart.

Several servers on the same machine

No problem: each one is a different game port. Register each one.

Players get "is not licensed on this server" and are disconnected

The server isn't registered, or a mod isn't in your licence. Check A6_License.log and the table above.

I run several Communities

Each Community needs its own licence. Contact our staff on Discord for an extra one.
